My 3 favorite things

Cakes, stop motion and Valentine's OH MY! Three of my favorite things all put into one. It's hard for me to ask for anything more.

This couple has such amazing videos they make and their blog is so delightful too! I wish I would have found them a long time ago. You may read their blog here.

What are you doing to get ready for the delightful day?

A Hand Written Note

I am not ashamed to say it... I watched Bright Star 3 times this weekend and after reading Poppytalk this morning I had to pass on this beautiful article and handwritten Valentines by Hello Handmade. I think this would be a wonderful way to express you admiration for someone.

Last Year's Valentine

Mom had my valentine out that I made her last year so I though I would share it with you for a little bit of inspiration. I am currently working in the studio on new ones that I am not going to show you. For some of you it's a surprise so you will have to wait.

a few ideas...

I haven't got to crafting my Valentines yet but have found several great ideas from my old pal Martha. Here are some for you that are the baking type.

Conversation Heart Cookies

I think I love the packaging the most.

Now don't think you can't do this because it's not even February yet, get it done now while you have time. Do your baking and store it in the freezer (or as I do... in the garage) so you can pull it out and package it up just in time for the day.

I heart it!

what is it with people who don't like Valentines day? I know, I know... it's not the best of holidays if you supposedly don't have a special someone to share it with... but seriously it can be a day that you show all those wonderful people in your life that you care about them. So those of you who are rolling your eyes at me... get in the mood, get out the pink and red, hearts and flowers, chocolates and candies, we are going to make this valentines day one you are going to LOVE!

I've got some fun ideas up my sleeves and am hoping that I have plenty of time to get crafty and show you some fun ideas that you can make too.

Warm heart and hands on Valentines day!

You might not need hand warmers on a day like yesterday... 60 degrees. But just wait because I hear we are going to get snow tomorrow.

A small group of us got sewing to make some very cute little hand warmers last night at DIY/craft night at Mars Cafe. Erin of SoZealous brought some fabric samples from her work to re-use as her hand warmers. (How environmental conscious!) I did some screen and block printing on my fabric to personalize it to coordinate with my Valentine cards that have special sayings such as "Wood you be mine?" and "You take the cake!"
Some of the gentle men at Mars even tested them out on their faces for some heat therapy. So as you see there are many other ways these handy little rice packs can be used.

We also had a large group of people who joined us for great conversation. Alyssa from Vitea Design Collective and her Husband Josh joined us in conversation and we discusses all things DIY.

Please come join us for our next DIY night Tuesday February 24th, same time same place! For more pictures go here.

Valentine D.I.Y. Night

Come join us for an evening of creating at Mars Cafe Tuesday, February 10th from 7-9 pm.

You can learn something new as I show how to make re-usable hand warmers. Not only warm the heart of your special someone but keep their hands warm too. cheesy…I know :)

Or perhaps you would like to bring a project of your own that you are working on.

I always enjoy having a creative atmosphere to work on projects. Working side by side with someone else always motivates me! So, I hope you feel welcome to come join us or stop by and say hell0.

Here is a list of supplies you will need to create a hand warmer or several hand warmers

.
Supplies:
1. Fabric of choice and size to create your little set of hand warmers. These can be of any size or shape, it's all up to you.

2. Needle and thread to sew your hand warmer together, pins to hold your packet together while you sew it.

4.Scissors

3. Bag of Rice (for warmer filling)

These are ones I had made so far, a layer cake and also a piece of wood. I have many more ideas of shapes I want to make!

Dear Santa,

I know it's kinda late, like 2 weeks late. I am wondering if you could bring me one of these? Maybe if you have anything to do with Valentines day, it's the next holiday, that would be great!

Love, Leslie

p.s. if you don't know were to find him just ask the Sartorialist.
p.p.s. I LOVE YOU Sartorialist!

Crafting Lessons

Maybe I need to start offering classes to people who want to craft but don't know how or were to begin.
I helped my good friend Ryan with his valentines craft. I taught him how to make a pattern, embroider, and how to use the sewing machine. It turned out pretty good so you can see here. He is proud of his finished product.
